Google’s New Logo Update

By now, I am sure you have noticed the new Google logo update. Overall, the reception has been much more positive than other logo changes in general. A Mashable poll found that almost 52% of people agreed the change was cleaner and needed.

However, 26% of this group was not pleased with the update, saying the change was a mere font swap and replacement of a lowercase letter with an uppercase letter. Others argued that the logo is infantile and reflects the logo of Gymboree or Fisher Price.

So, what is the reason for the change?

The simple change of font can give a whole new meaning to the logo. Using sans-serif gives a sense of continuity that ties into Google’s structural changes earlier this month when the company splintered its various divisions into new companies under a company called Alphabet. Furthermore, the logo gives flexibility and a fresh look.

Regardless of the feedback, positive or negative, the new Google logo is creating a buzz everywhere.
