LinkedIn’s First Commercial is Out of This World

LinkedIn is taking a new approach to advertising following its disappointing earnings report. The professional network debuted its first commercial during the Oscars, advertisers next big stage following the Super Bowl. The ad served as a kick-starter for print, digital, and social campaigns.

The first commercial is out of this world, literally. LinkedIn was inspired by a job posted by NASA looking for its next astronaut. The company tweeted a link to the posting and said that it was the most popular tweet thus far.

In order to construct the commercial, LinkedIn utilized footage from NASA. The site is hoping that the idea of space travel inspires new users and current employees. LinkedIn wants people to know that people can achieve careers they think are unattainable.
