Teens prefer YouTube and Netflix to TV and don’t mind ads, report finds

Defy Media conducted a “Youth Media Diet” report to figure out the entertainment preferences of Gen Z and young millennial consumers. The results were not surprising, as most teens prefer digital content to the more traditional cable TV. Many teens (65%) watch content on sites such as YouTube and Netflix from the morning through to the evening.

Mashable rounded up four takeaways from the report:

  1. YouTube is still king.
  2. Social video is on the rise.
  3. The cost of cable isn’t necessarily the problem.
  4. The youth doesn’t mind ads…much.
